Banoffee's rush-laden "Ripe" is a breath of fresh air

The Line of Best Fit
We don't know that much about mysterious producer Banoffee yet.
"Got It" - a track back from 2014 - introduced the LA-based Australian with a neat take on experimentally smooth pop and was followed by a similarly on-brand debut EP. It now seems logical to disregard that as a false start in light of "Ripe".
The new cut is a collab with quality creative hub 10K Islands and reveals a more confident, direct and infectious sound far from the Banoffee of three years ago. "I wanted to make something that made my tongue itch like when I smell salt and vinegar chips, like grazed knees or sucking lemons," she says.
"I’m testing my new machine and 'Ripe' is my first reaction.”
Ripe is out now via Remote Control Records / Dot Dash & 10k Islands
