Zebra and Snake x I Ching – Money In Heaven [Best Fit Premiere] // Song Of The Day #440
Last night we brought you the first instalment in an exciting new remix series. Projekta, a London- and Reykjavik-based management company, has asked a series of British and Scandinavian bands to remix each other ahead of their respective performances at this weekend’s Great Escape. Yesterday Zebra and Snake remixed Best Fit Recordings’ very own I Ching, and today the London band returns the favour.
I Ching’s abstracted take on ‘Money In Heaven’ hinges on a tiny vocal hook, repeated ad absurdum through a near-impenetrable wall of fuzz. The drums are huge, the distortion is thick, and the vocals somehow sound much, much more like David Bowie than they did on the original. Which is, of course, no bad thing.
Look out for the next instalment in the Projekta remix project tomorrow.
