Rival Consoles is the geekiest band name of all time. There is no avoiding this.
It is lucky, then, that the music that Londoner Ryan L West makes under this moniker is so consistently entertaining. New it is not; instead, it is almost totally indebted to a combination of late ’90s IDM (can we just kill that horrible acronym now, please?), and SEGA soundtracks. But that doesn’t matter – because it is just done so very, very well.
His second album, Kid Velo, is being released one track at a time over the course of 11 weeks, courtesy of TLOBF favourites Erased Tapes.
