Following the instantly addictive “Stop”, Manchester’s Girl Friend return with “Chemical Reaction”, premiering today on Best Fit. As the name implies, this five-piece is set on hooking you at the hormonal level.

“All the time in the world, pour another glass of wine, yes you’re all mine…” Swathed in sensual synths and propelled by bouncing bass, this very first line is an indicator of the dance-floor romance to come. Our falsetto-flaunting narrator pings back and forth between love and lust; “I just wanna go home”, he croons, and you get the feeling he doesn’t mean alone.

All of that tension culminates in a delightfully bombastic disco-pop chorus more explosive than a baking soda and vinegar volcano. These boys know the science of a great sound.
