62-year-old master bluesman R.L. Boyce debuts “R.L.’s Boogie.”
Newly signed to Waxploitation, R.L. Boyce is making god fearing music on Mississippi terms.
R.L. Boyce has had a guitar in his hand since childhood. Growing up in Como, Mississippi (home to great Hill Country bluesman Fred McDowell) R.L. started off playing drums for Rising Star Fife then with blues legend Otha Turner. During this time he plotted and bided his time before he could come out in front.
Forty years later the Mississippi local is well and truly in the forefront, blending hip shanking grooves with meditative lyrics in his own improvisational style.

“R.L.’s Boogie” is a mesmerising, moonshine fuelled, barbecue belter in classic Mississippi Hill Country style. As the locals say it "God bless M, I, crooked letter, crooked letter, I, crooked letter, crooked letter, I, humpback, humpback, I!”
