18-year-old bedroom musician Naaz shares eccentric debut cut “Words”
Refusing to let a conservative Kurdish background stand in her way, 18-year-old musician Naaz had to win her family over before being able to share her music with the world.
“Words” is the debut single from the Holland-based artist, who wrote, performed, and produced the track in her bedroom studio. The result is a nuanced and mature pop track opening with wobbly synths, that never fails to accentuate the singer’s faultless vocal.
Naaz injects playfulness into her work through the ingenious and eccentric use of electronic percussion, freshening the humble handclap into a bright accent to “Words”’ infectious chorus. Her lyrics are simple and heartfelt, every world clear and utterly charming as it chases across the track’s warm backdrop.
With a debut EP titled Bits Of Naaz on the horizon, “Words” is a promising start from the young musician.
