
Erki Pärnoja's "Soledad" is an ode to the sacred state of solitude
Estonian guitarist and singer/songwriter Erki Pärnoja is back with "Soledad", a celestial hymn that arrives with his new album Leva.
"Soledad", which is the Spanish word for solitude, is an angelic and near-religious ode to the state of being alone.
Layered, plucky guitars open the track before Pärnoja commences his angelic, harmony-driven vocals. He sings to the state of solitude, asking it "to take me down" in a calm, ritual-like manner.
The track's instrumentals slowly build throughout, adding intensity with each verse, before unleashing a sea of different harmonies at the chorus, creating a chaotic blend of pitches which is contrasted with the minimal visual (directed by Kärt Hammer) that shows dancer Edgar Vunš living in his own solitude.
