Nine Inch Nails release behind-the-scenes tour documentary
Nine Inch Nails frontman Trent Reznor sure has been taking his band’s fledgling world tour very seriously. First he turned down an Australian rock festival because he “wanted a more sophisticated audience”, then he hit out at Reading Festival bosses for tampering with his production work. Now, he’s released a documentary detailing why it all means so much to him.
The film follows Reznor and co as they prepared for this year’s Fuji Rock Festival in Japan, what was their first appearance of the 2013 stint. The industrial musician goes into detail about the hard work he’s put in to complete his vision.
“My goal, if we’re playing a 70 to 90 minute set, is that it’s almost a film,” Reznor says, “where it starts out one way — not only musically, but visually it evolves into something that keeps your attention, frames the music in a way that feels like a journey from one place to another”.
