Daft Punk's 'Get Lucky' becomes first single to sell 1 million copies in 2013
Despite coming out at the end of April, Daft Punk’s mega-hit, and obligatory summer anthem, ‘Get Lucky’ has reached the 1 million sales mark before any other track this year.
The French duo’s first proper single since 2007, discounting one lifted from their Tron soundtrack, the Pharrell Williams and Niles Rodgers featuring number took just 69 days to reach the landmark.
Rodgers told BBC Newsbeat of his surprise, saying: “I’m awestruck…Get Lucky has sold a million copies is one thing, but to do it in 69 days? It’s amazing.”
Pharrell’s other big guest spot of the year, ‘Blurred Lines’ by Robin Thicke could also soon achieve the feat, currently at the 800,000 unit point.
Meanwhile, Daft Punk recently released their own remix of this very track.
