Welcome to our weekly round-up of shows happening in the grand concert halls, dimly lit basements, airy cafe’s and grimy sweatboxes across the UK and Ireland.

All acts featured come with the Best Fit ‘Seal Of Approval’ so you can be assured that your hard earned cash will be well spent.After a couple of bumper weeks for live music we have realised this week, whilst being no exception, is actually pretty incredible not only for the amazing calibre of bands performing but for the combination of those acts on the same bill. Foxes, Syron and Faye all in one place? PINS and Chateaux? Drop Out Venus and Ides? Yes please. The list goes on and, trust us, you want to read it.

If slow, maudlin, minimal and mesmerising ambient records are your thing then you could do a lot worse than Sways Records’ G R E A T W A V E S and, at the moment at least, you’d be heard pressed to do better.

The raw momentum contained within this Toronto trio’s drums alone is enough to make us want to actually pay to use the cloakroom and throw in with every sweaty, hardcore fan that will undoubtedly be at the front.

Three of pop music’s biggest stars, (or at least that is what this would read if we were in charge of pop music), in one room can’t be anything less than amazing can it? Expect a powerhouse of crisp, powerful, slick female vocals with differently flavoured undercurrents from R&B through to euro dance.

We’ve probably spent too much time banging on about how much we love these artists, but we really really do and you should too. You should definitely think about spending your Wednesday night amidst the angular notes of Breton, the ebbing electronics of Seams and the intoxicating down tempo, dubstep fused beats of Face + Heel.

PINS, Bird & Chateaux @ The Sebright Arms, London 24/10

A northern invasion that doesn’t involve more bands from Birmingham? Brilliant. PINS bring rich, textured atmospherics from Manchester, Bird offer up haunting, fractured folk tales from Liverpool and last but certainly not least Manchester’s Chateaux bend synths to their will with really rather stunning consequences.
