Stream Doomsquad's Kalaboogie Twice Me remix EP
We’ve been big fans of experimental sibling trio Doomsquad since we first chanced upon a demo recording of "Ovoo" a year or so ago. Debut album Kalaboogie delivered on the promise we heard upon its release earlier this year, fusing electronic pulses, clicks, synths and deep bass with chanting, drones, repeated phrases, surf guitars and dark new age references, existing in the gap between nature and technology, the ancient and the modern.
The band’s live show has found them feeding the songs back into a more hypnotic and trance-like format, extending and developing them into something recognisable but new. Along the way they have performed with Fucked Up and OOIOO, as well as performing in a wide variety of venues, from the Art Gallery of Ontario to late night warehouse parties.
This month the band head out on a Canadian tour opening for Polaris Prize winner Tanya Tagaq and then later in the month with Gazelle Twin. To mark the occasion they are sharing a remix album Kalaboogie Twice Me featuring reworkings of tracks from Kalaboogie from producers from all over Canada and beyond including Slade Robbie/Humans (Vancouver), Graham Walsh of Holy Fuck and Ettiquette (Toronto), Lee Paradise (Daniel Lee of Hooded Fang/ Phèdre) (Toronto), Sibian & Faun (Montreal) and Kit Grill (London) amongst others. To download the EP simply visit Hand Drawn Dracula's Facebook Page. You can also download their remix of Timber Timbre’s "Curtains" here.
