Open Mike Eagle shares "For DOOM" tribute freestyle
Open Mike Eagle has shared new freestyle "For DOOM" to pay tribute to the late MF DOOM, whose death was confirmed on New Year's Eve.
On New Year's Eve (31 December), Jasmine Dumile, the wife of MF DOOM, shared a post via his Instagram that revealed the masked rapper died on 31 October. The legendary rapper was 49, and the cause of death is yet to be revealed.
Tributes poured in from all over the world, including MF DOOM's collaborators Ghostface Killah, Czarface, Bishop Nehru, and Lupe Fiasco shared a MF DOOM-style freestyle.
The latest tribute freestyle paying tribute to the masked rapper comes from Open Mike Eagle. His "For DOOM" freestyle sees him rap about working with DOOM on "Phantoms" and "Police Myself".
Open Mike Eagle's new freestyle features a beat by Illingsworth, and also sees him rap about how people will be trying to get MF DOOM masks following his passing, "The news, it knocked it out me like Ronda Rousey / Fool, you're bout to sell more masks than Dr. Fauci / I'm copping one off Etsy to rock it proudly / I'm dad bod saved by the belly Kelly Kapowski / I wrote this rhyme on a rock with a sickle too / Got a pic of you spittin' on some art in my living room / I memorised your lyrics and seen every interview / I looked into the eyes of the piece / He ain't really you."
