Neil Young is removing Facebook and Google logins from his Archives site

Neil Young is spending a large sum of money to disable Facebook and Google logins from his Archives website.

Members of Neil Young's Archive site were notified that the site will "begin the process of eliminating Facebook and Google logins from our website".

The post links to another article that expands on the reasoning behind disabling Facebook logins. The post reveals that the Neil Young Archives team will be spending nearly $20,000 (£15,350) to remove the logins.

"Facebook knowingly allows untruths and lies in its political ads to circulate on the platform, while bots sow discord among users," the article reads. "Sowing dissent and chaos in our country via political disinformation is something we cannot condone. Simply put, Facebook is screwing with our election."

It's not yet clear why the cost of removing the logins is so high, and Young's issues with Google aren't disclosed.

The website statement reads, "If you use Facebook or Google for login, we are going to ask you to run through a quick process the next time you log in – it’s just a few extra clicks. At the end of the process, your account will be transitioned to use your email address and a password for login. Goodbye Facebook and Google buttons."

Earlier this month, Neil Young filed a lawsuit against Donald Trump for copyright infringement over the unauthorised use of his songs at political events.
