Meilyr Jones scoops 2016 Welsh Music Prize
Meilyr Jones has won this year's Welsh Music Prize for his lauded LP 2013.
The former Race Horses member rose to the top of a competitive shortlist that also featured 9Bach, Alan Gaffey, the Anchoress, Cate Le Bon, Climbing Trees, Datblygu, Plu, Right Hand Left Hand, Simon Love, Skindred, and Sŵnami.
"Winning was a big shock, I really had no idea - I am nervous but overall, it is great to have won," Jones says of the award. "I made the record on my own, away from the industry with the help of my family and my good friends. It meant I got to really explore and experiment."
Last year's award was taken home by Gwenno for her debut record Y Dydd Olaf.
