Download: Stereogum's tribute to The Strokes
Stereogum has recently revealed Stroked: A Tribute to Is This It, in celebration of the tenth anniversary of the release of The Strokes‘ seminal debut album. Saturday, 30 July is the record’s official birthday and this compilation is a great way to mark the occasion.
Contributors include indie heavyweights Owen Pallett, Real Estate, Peter Bjorn and John, and a show-stealing turn from the Morning Benders, who make ‘Last Night’ sound like it was a Human League classic all along. The sheer quality of the original compositions is what really shines through, though, and if nothing else, Stroked is a timely reminder of just how important Is This It was and continues to be.
