Captured Tracks to release Ben Stiller's post-punk album
Ben Stiller's old band, Capital Punishment, will finally see their debut album released this year.
Roadkill, the quartet's first LP, was never released, but Captured Tracks are putting it out over 30 years since it was recorded by a bunch of teenagers fascinated by proto-industrial. Copies of the 1982 album reportedly sell for hundreds of dollars, but now you'll be able to hear the cult band without the need for emptying the piggy bank. Perhaps this release will spark a reunion show?
As Pitchfork note, Capital Punishment is quite the supergroup:
"In addition to Stiller, the band also featured Kriss Roebling, whose ancestors built the Brooklyn Bridge back in the 19th century, Peter Zusi, professor of Slavic studies at University College London, and Peter Swann, who would go on to become a Supreme Court Justice for the state of Arizona."
Speaking about the release in a recent interview on the Howard Stern Show, Stiller said:
"What happened was some outsider music label, which I didn't know those existed, but people who are just into weird music; I guess it's been found and they asked us if they could re-release it... they're called Captured Tracks. They're a real company."
