Alex Lahey releases new single "The Sky is Melting"
Alex Lahey shares the third single from her forthcoming album The Answer is Always Yes.
"The Sky is Melting" follows on from recent singles "They Wouldn't Let Me In", "Good Time", and "Congratulations".
Speaking on the genesis of "The Sky is Melting", Lahey explains: "I went to the desert and did a bunch of edibles and a wrote a song about it. Definitely not the first person in the world to do it. But maybe it’s the first song to reference both Michael Bolton and an unnamed verified Air BnB host in the same verse."
Working with Jacknife Lee and others, The Answer is Always Yes is he result Lahey’s most collaborative album yet.
"I've made two records doing it all by myself and now I’ve proved to myself that I can do it,” Lahey says. “But it was also at a point where I was like, ‘If I do that again, I kind of know what it's gonna sound like’ and I don't think I'm interested in that right now.”
The album follows 2017's I Love You Like a Brother and 2019's The Best of Luck Club.
"The Sky is Melting" is out now. Alex Lahey's The Answer is Always Yes album will arrive via Liberation Records on 19 May, and is available to pre-order now.
