Wembley Park unveils Lana Del Rey mural ahead of her stadium shows

Wembley Park have revealed their preparations to welcome Lana Del Rey for her two sold-out shows at Wembley Stadium on 3-4 July with a mural and one-night-only orchestral performance.

Painted on the side wall of the Spanish Steps, the mural — titled Lust for Life, after Lana Del Rey’s 2017 album — features a life-like portrait of the artist seated in a turquoise 1950s pickup truck. A reference to the old-school Americana and classic car motifs that define her visual world, the 20 square metre spray-painted artwork was created by British street artist HUMOR in collaboration with street art collective MurWalls. It marks the newly named Lana Lane, complete with its own street sign.

Marc Silver, CEO & Founder of MurWalls, commented: "We’re proud to return to Wembley Park, creating another mural in a landmark location — this time to celebrate the one and only Lana Del Rey. The artwork took three days to complete using only spray paint, with a focus on capturing the intricate details of Lana’s face and expression — something we hope fans will really connect with." HUMOR added: "There’s always pressure when creating portraits, but we’re thrilled with the result and can’t wait for Lana and her fans to see it."

Alongside unveiling Lust for Life, Wembley Park invites fans and visitors to enjoy another free cultural moment ahead of Del Rey’s shows, titled Lana Del Rey: The String Sessions. For one night only, an eight-piece string ensemble from London’s acclaimed City String Ensemble will perform orchestral reimaginings of her most iconic songs live in the open air at the Sound Shell in Samovar Space, beneath the iconic Wembley Stadium arch.

Sophie Poteratchi, founder and artistic director of City String Ensemble, said: "We’re thrilled to bring Lana’s music to life in such an iconic setting. The atmosphere at Wembley Park — with the arch overhead and fans all around — will make this a truly special experience."

Fans can book free tickets on the Wembley Park website, or simply turn up on the day.
