SOTD #111 // Redondo Beach: ‘She Loves Her’
If someone made a movie of your life, it’s almost irrelevant who would play the lead character. For most of us, they’d probably just rope in a second rate no-hoper anyway, as the most exciting thing that would happen in the day to day plot would be the decision to have a baked potato or soup for dinner, and even Martin Sheen pondering over that isn’t going to make it enthralling. No, the most important thing in any theoretical biopic of your life should be the soundtrack.
The simple choice for most would be to go for the likes of Sigur Ros, or any one of the BBC’s rota of things to play over slow motion montages. True lads would probably have a mixture of Hard-Fi and Oasis, or possibly Hard-Fi covering Oasis, or something equally disgusting. However, if you manage to live a life that is somehow befitting of having Redondo Beach’s ‘She Loves Her’ playing in the background, then consider yourself extremely lucky. Utterly sexy, it’s halfway between music for soft-porn and the best thing you’ve ever heard. Let it play in the background whilst you put the cheese on your jacket potato.
