Mysterious newcomers New Life unveil debut track "God Will Never Come For Us" [Premiere]
New York City outfit New Life - the fact they're based in the Big Apple is about all we know - have shared their debut track, "God Will Never Come For Us".
On their Facebook page, the members are listed as 'Andrew Marr', which, obviously, is a bit difficult to dig into. Despite the relative anonyminity of the outfit - presuming that there's more than one member - they make great music.
"God Will Never Come For Us" is a gorgeous piece of nostalgic pop. It's got glistening '80s guitars and rippling synths, with Marr's vocals soaring with menace and hallucinogenic lust above the post-pop melee below; "God Will Never Come For Us" is a mighty big claim, but New Life don't seem like they need a deity. There's a confidence, a self-assuredness - New Life may not had celestial beings guiding the way, but they can clearly make it on their own.
