NewDad detail forthcoming second album, Altar
Irish rock band NewDad have announced their forthcoming second album, Altar, alongside the release of new single, "Roobosh".
Speaking of the new track, frontwoman Julie Dawson says: “Roobosh is just about being fed up. I wanted to write one song for the album that allowed me to shout, to get out all my frustration. Women get angry and we are expected to contain our rage but on this song I just allowed myself to go there. I wanted a song where I could moan and scream cause we all need to do that every once in a while and honestly it was just a bit of fun, letting myself get angry when I never allow myself to.”
Written over the past two years, and born from a period of yearning for their hometown following the band’s move to London, the record explores themes of relationships, homesickness, ambition and sacrifice – and finds the trio grappling with the life they left behind in exchange for the promise of chasing their dreams.
Altar is set to follow last year's debut full-length release, Madra, as well as the Safe EP released earlier this year, and Julie Dawson's debut solo project, Bottom Of The Pool.
Altar is set for release on 19 September, and is available to pre-save now.
