"The Streets Moved Like Snakes" is a thrilling exploration of house music from Sweden's DÖDEN

16 March 2017, 11:00 | Written by Andrew Hannah

With his debut EP due at the end of the month, Malmo's shadowy DÖDEN is back with another superlative electronic banger.

Following on from "Vienen", "The Streets Moved Like Snakes" is a slightly less terrorising downer of a track, but still manages to create a feeling of dread on the dancefloor.

Once again there's a lethal, unrelenting 4/4 beat, but across the seven-plus minutes there's stabs of flute looped over and over which recall the work of Spanish producer John Talabot, doomy bass lines and a general ambience which suggests that while you'd have a great time on the dancefloor to this, it's secretly best enjoyed lying sprawled on the floor thinking about the impending collapse and destruction of western civilization. It's not music which is going to lift your mood, but this is fucking brilliant stuff from DÖDEN.

"The Streets Moved Like Snakes" is taken from the DÖDEN EP out 31 March via Adrian Recordings. You can pre-order here.
