London venue Bull & Gate set to close
North London’s Bull & Gate is set to close as a music venue, it’s been revealed.
Resident promoters of the Kentish Town haunt, Club Fandango made the announcement via Facebook earlier today (6 February).
The cause of the closure is said to be due to the pub’s new owners, Young’s brewery.
The promoters wrote:
“Sad news, readers – The Bull & Gate, that North London bastion of alternative rock and indiepop rumblings for over 30 years, will cease operating as a live venue on Saturday May 4 2013. The entire building has been sold to the Youngs chain and will be closed for refurbishment. It is expected to reopen as a pub restaurant in the summer.”
There has been a Facebook page set up for gig-goers to share their memories of the venue.
