Want to play Field Day? The Quietus can help!
Our friends over at The Quietus have got a stage at this year’s Field Day festival and they’re on the look out for an act to open it on the Saturday afternoon.
At the moment they’ve got Mouse On Mars, Silver Apples, Amiina, Esben & The Witch, Max Tundra, Flower Corsano Duo, Beth Jeans Houghton and Gruff Rhys’ deeply terrifying new project with Tony Da Gattora on. Which all sounds lovely. But they’ve got a gap that needs to be filled!
If you fancy all you have to do is send in some music which will be listened to by Bad Cop (Luke) and Even Worse Cop (John). After we have chosen our favourite Necrotic Black Metal Tuvan Throat Singing Industrial Glo Fi act out of all of the demos, then we’ll invite that group to open The Quietus stage on the Saturday morning.
You will get VIP passes for chums, a tasty rider and, of course, the success and acclaim that can surely only come after being blessed by the mighty palm of the Quietus. (“Just ask Dead Skeletons, Gnaw Their Tongues and Teeth Of The Sea how their lives have been irrevocably improved by this mighty accolade”, says John.) We’re accepting submissions from all unsigned bands, though if you’ve had a few hundred cheap 7″ pressed on a tiny label we won’t hold it against you.
To enter, you need to email fieldday@thequietus.com with your mySpace or Soundcloud – please don’t send MP3s, else you’ll kill their email dead. Make sure you put ‘Hopefuls’ in the subject box. And, please, dear god, if you’ve just decided to get over your girlfriend recently leaving you by recording lots of singer/songwritery acoustic guitar acompanied ‘freak’ folk please mark your entries ‘Delete Immediately Without Listening’.
