Newcastle synthpop troupe Joy Atlas aim for the stratosphere with latest single "Altitude".
Vocalist Beccy Owen navigates a ragged synth landscape with her rollercoaster delivery. "Altitude" is frequently surprising, turning at right angles into new ideas and sounds - it's jagged, with cascading synth flows darting between stuttering beats and flippant section shifts. "Altitude" is gorgeously addictive with a plethora of hooks to wrap your chops around, but it's not your standard pop cut - not by a long shot.
