Rashida Jones shares tribute to late father Quincy: "He was a giant. An icon. A culture shifter. A genius"
Quincy Jones' daughter, actress Rashida Jones, has shared a heartfelt tribute to her father.
Quincy Jones, the iconic producer who worked with the likes of Aretha Franklin, Donna Summer, Michael Jackson and Frank Sinatra, died on Sunday evening at the age of 91. In a new post shared via Instagram, his daughter Rashida Jones has paid tribute to him.
She recalled his late-night forays into creating new musical pieces – having worked with the likes of Ella Fitzgerald, Michael Jackson, Leslie Gore, Sammy Davis Jr., Dinah Washington, Sarah Vaughan and Peggy Lee – and shared that even if it was late at night, when she should've been in bed, he never once got mad at her. Instead, he would "smile and bring me into his arms while he continued to work...there was no safer place in the world for me".
"He was a giant. An icon. A culture shifter. A genius. All accurate descriptions of my father but his music (and ALL of his work) was a channel for his love. He WAS love. He made everyone he ever met feel loved and seen. That’s his legacy," she wrote. "I was fortunate enough to experience this love in close proximity. I’ll miss his hugs and kisses and unconditional devotion and advice. Daddy, it is an honor to be your daughter. Your love lives forever."
Quincy Jones is survived by Rashida and her six siblings, Rachel, Martina, Jolie, Kenya, Kidada, and Quincy Jones III.
