Following good news last week that vinyl sales are at the highest point since 1997, it’s now been revealed that UK album sales overall have increased for the first time since 2009.
While record sales have been falling for the past four years, the first quarter of 2013 has seen a slight increase according to figures unveiled by the BPI and Official Charts Company.
It was announced yesterday that there’s been a rise of 1.4% in combined digital and physical releases, totalling at 23.3 million sales in all.
This news follows a series of impressive unit-shifting releases coming from the likes of David Bowie and Justin Timberlake.
