Surviving Beastie Boys members to release memoirs via Faber
The Beastie Boys’ Mike D and Ad-Rock are set to pen a book of memoirs for Faber Social, the publishing company Jarvis Cocker recently became Editor-At-Large for.
The book, due in 2015, has been described as a “panoramic story of the band and its times using oral history as its narrative backbone” tracing everything from the band’s “origins as a New York City high school hardcore band” to “last year’s induction in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame”.
The project is one of the first the pair have pursued since the death of bandmate Adam Yauch almost a year ago. “After Yauch died, I didn’t push them. But I think that Adam and Mike ended up realizing that it was the right time for them,” their agent Luke Janklow said.
The book will come out through Spiegel & Grau and Random House in the U.S.
