US Radio stations to play "Nothing Compares 2 U" seven hours and 13 days after Prince's death
Radio stations across the USA will be paying tribute to Prince by playing his track "Nothing Compares 2 U" exactly seven hours and 13 days after his death.
It's been organised by Minnesotan station The Current. The Current, KEXP (Seattle), WXPN (Philadelphia), WFUV (New York), KKXT (Dallas), KUTX (Austin), and Radio Milwaukee will all be playing the song at 5:07pm CT (11:07 BST).
Speaking about the tribute, The Current's Jim McGuinn says: "We thought marking this moment...with one of Prince's most ubiquitous songs would be a wonderful way to honour his legacy. We hope that wherever Prince fans are, and whatever radio station they are listening to, they will take a minute to listen and remember his musical genius and artistry."
Prince's track, famously covered by Irish artist Sinead O'Connor, features the lyrics "It's been seven hours and 13 days...".
O'Connor altered the original lyrics of the opening line, with her version beginning "It's been seven hours and 15 days..."
Prince died suddenly on 21 April at his Minnesota home at the age of 57. A cause of death is still being investigated.
