Ólafur Arnalds previews forthcoming album with third single "Woven Song"
Ólafur Arnalds has released new track "Woven Song" as the third preview of his upcoming album some kind of peace.
"Woven Song" arrives after last month's "We Contain Multitudes" and JFDR collaboration "Back To The Sky".
The Icelandic multi-instrumentalist says of his new release, ""Woven Song" is a defining moment of some kind of peace. A metaphor for being embraced by something larger than yourself while exploring new territories, the feeling of being held while you open your heart. Using an acrylic pouring process called ‘viscous fingering’ to obtain fractal shapes, Thomas Vanz has created a beautiful visual representation of the lifeline that anchors you to the world during a challenging experience."
some kind of peace will be Arnalds' first LP since 2018's Re:member. The new album will feature collaborations with Bonobo and Josin.
The new album was partly written before the coronavirus lockdown, and later completed at Arnalds' harbour studio in downtown Reykjavík.
Arnalds says of the LP, "It's so personal that I'm still trying to find the words to talk about it. I felt it was important that the album would tell my story in a very honest way."
