Sony are set to stop production of Mini-Disc stereos next month, reports say.
According to Nikkei, the company will “wind down” the format in March, while continuing to sell Mini-Disc cartridges for the “next few years”.
The format was first launched back in 1992, storing 74 minutes of digitised audio.
It was announced last month that only 270 albums were sold on Mini-Disc during 2012.
