M.I.A.'s first documentary trailer is here
MATANGI / MAYA / M.I.A. is the documentary that follows M.I.A.'s journey from the start in Sri Lanka. The first trailer has been revealed today.
M.I.A. has always dominated the pop scene with her witty, and sometimes controversial ideas. It may seem that she doesn't care about much apart from her roots, but her new documentary will flip every preconception on its head.
The trailer presents a documentary commenced by M.I.A. herself as a young girl between Sri Lanka and London after fleeing as a refugee due to the horrendous civil war.
Now a successful popstar, the feature follows her transition to become M.I.A., and the remarkable way she uses her voice to speak up on troublesome situations.
The documentary originally premiered at this year's Sundance Film Festival.
Through the personal videos M.I.A. recorded over the space of 22 years, which is being directed by long-time friend Steve Loveridge, she can finally be honest and open about her journey, and her values that she has uncovered on the way.
