Lil Nas X says most songs on his album were made from "end of last year and beginning of this year"
Lil Nas X has revealed that the majority of songs on his highly-anticipated debut album were created from the "end of last year and beginning of this year".
Earlier today (1 April) Anthony Fantano, aka TheNeedleDrop, who describes himself as "the internet's busiest music nerd" interviewed Lil Nas X. The pair discussed Lil Nas X's latest single "MONTERO (Call Me By Your Name)" and the controversy surrounding both the video and his recent MSCHF Satan Shoes, but Fantano also spoke to Lil Nas X about his highly-anticipated debut album - which Lil Nas X announced as being titled MONTERO last week.
Speaking about the album (from the 19:55 mark), Lil Nas X said, "I feel like the album is pretty much finished honestly. I have a date in the summer - pretty early in the summer, like not August/September - I love it ... I've been working really hard on this album, I worked really hard to get this fucking video together, you know? Like fucking weeks of pole dancing and going to the gym and fucking getting this CGI together."
He added, "I've been working on this album for two years. Most of the music came from the end of last year and the beginning of this year because I've just been improving more and more on the sides of like, the beats that I pick, the lyrics that I write, the melodies that I do on the songs. It's been such a journey."
