Justin Timberlake set to go country on new album Man Of The Woods?
Justin Timberlake has announced new album Man Of The Woods, and teased a bunch of the tracks via a minute-long trailer.
The trailer looks a bit like a sequel to Kanye West's "Bound 2" video (there's plenty of plaid, wild horses, and evocative American landscapes... not much Kim K naked on a bike though), and the music certainly veers away from Timberlake's R&B/pop roots for the most part. Some of it even sounds a bit Bon Iver-y, although there's a few big folky pop moments; Pharrell is involved somehow, as the trailer reveals.
While he doesn't explicitly state any sonic direction, the visuals and narration hint at a country direction. As well as citing family life and fatherhood as inspirations on the LP, Timberlake says that "where [he's] from" - country/western heartland Tennessee - is a big part of the record as well. We're totally speculating on the country route, but we're on board if that's where he's headed.
Timberlake, who controversially returns to headline the Super Bowl halftime show this year, has been teasing the album for a while. Timberlake's 20/20 Experience follow up was one of our most wanted albums of last year.
