Judge approves Kanye West's request to officially change his name to Ye
An LA judge has approved Kanye West's application to legally change his name to Ye.
According to a communications officer at the Los Angeles Superior Court, West has officially changed his name to Ye.
BBC reports that West's request, which was filed in August, has been approved by an LA judge.
The rapper cited "personal reasons" for the name change in his application, which was filed nearly three years after the rapper tweeted about wanting to be called "Ye", a few months after releasing his 2018 album ye.
Earlier this month it was reported that Ye is set to open a new prep school called Donda Academy, which is located in Simi Valley, California, and hopes to have a basketball programme that will rival the Sierra Canyon Trailblazers team.
He's also apparently filed a trademark application for Donda that's due to be used for a new line of tech products.
