The likes of My Morning Jacket’s Jim James, Marcus Mumford from Mumford & Sons and Elvis Costello are coming together to record a new album inspired by Bob Dylan.
Last on the River: The New Basement Tapes will be released later this year, a project helmed by T Bone Burnett which sees famous musicians recording unreleased Dylan lyrics. The words are for songs left off of the folk musician’s classic 1975 album The Basement Tapes.
Among those also taking part are Dawes’ Taylor Goldsmith and Carolina Chocolate Drops’ Rhiannon Giddens. A feature-length documentary will also be released with the LP.
