Deerhunter's second single "Element" is "an elegy for ecology"

Georgian folk-rock outfit Deerhunter are back with "Element", the second single from their forthcoming Why Hasn't Everything Already Disappeared? album.

"Element" is, described by frontman Bradford Cox as “an elegy for ecology (a landscape done in toxic watercolors)”, and is the second taste of Deerhunter's eighth studio album, having shared opening track "Death in Midsummer" back in October.

Why Hasn't Everything Disappeared? will follow Deerhunter's 2015 release Fading Frontier. The new record is produced by Cate Le Bon, who also contributes guest vocals to "Tarnung", and plays the harpsichord on "Death in Midsummer".

Deerhunter's eighth album was recorded between multiple studios across LA, Texas and Atlanta, and features other guest instrumentals from Tim Presley, Ben H. Allen (Animal Collective, Gnarles Barkley, Neon Indian) and Ian Horrocks.

"Element" is out now. Why Hasn't Everything Already Disappeared? lands 18 January via 4AD, and is available to pre-order now. Deerhunter will play shows in Japan and North America in the new year. Find out more.
