Belgian astronomers honour David Bowie with lightning bolt-shaped constellation
Eternal Starman David Bowie has been immortalised in the sky thanks to a group of Belgian astronomers.
The astronomers, from the MIRA Public Observatory, partnered with radio station Studio Brussells to register a constellation in honour of the Bowie. The iconic musician referenced outer space and its myriad treasures throughout his career; even final album Blackstar nodded to the skies.
Bowie passed away following an 18-month battle with cancer on 10 January. He released his 25th studio record Blackstar on 8 January, his 69th birthday, as a "parting gift".
The constellation depicts Bowie's iconic lightning bolt-shaped facepaint from the Aladdin Sane cover, and consists of seven stars.
