Dove Ellis, Mammút, Arima Ederra, PISS and Adult DVD lead this year's Iceland Airwaves lineup

Iceland Airwaves has revealed the first wave of names set to play the 27th edition of the festival this November.

Leading the international bookings there's rising Darlington-born outsider musician pollyfromthedirt, Vancouver confrontational punk band PISS, Tyler the Creator-endorsed Liim, introspective folk progeny Dove Ellis, and new gen Atlanta R&B artist Arima Ederra. Kosovan Alt-pop sensation Bana Zahiti, Gdańsk jazz-fusion outfit, Serbia disco-punks KOIKOI, Perth DJ Skeler, and Filipino-Icelandic singer-songwriter Keath Ósk – who makes music as Yaelokre – are among some of the other highlights travelling from across the globe to Reykjavík.

From the Icelandic names revealed, MAMMÚT's appearance marks their first show in quite some time: the cult Reykjavík art rock band – formerly signed to Bella Union – first played Airwaves almost 20 years ago when they were still in their teens, and haven't put out any music since 2020's Ride the Fire.

There's also sets from beloved veterans of the Reykjavík scene including Júníus Meyvant, Oyama, Emmsjé Gauti and Axel Flóvent, while local artists making their Airwaves debut include alt-folk TÁR, and recent Best Fit session stars Amor Vincit Omnia.

One Little Independent-signed Arny Margret, Icelandic/Danish musician and producer Róshildur, and virgin orchestra [pictured above] – who put out their 2023 debut via Smekkleysa records – also return to the stages of Airwaves.

The Faroese music scene will again be represented with a showcase featuring our favourite vegan bisexual punks Joe & the Shitboys, joining rap collective RSP and teenage metal four piece Tunghoyrt.

Three special shows will also take place at the Harpa venue with Shygirl opening the festival on 4 November and Daði Freyr & the Iceland Symphony Orchestra playing on the 5 November. The Streets will close Airwaves by performing A Grand Don´t Come for Free in full for the first time ever on 8 November. These additional performances will take place alongside the official festival program and will be accessible via separate tickets (with discounts and priority for festival pass holders).
