Attawalpa drops new single “Anyway” with Lena Dunham-starring video

Attawalpa – the project of London musician Luis Felber – has released grunge-pop track “Anyway” paired with a video starring Girls creator (and Felber’s real life partner) Lena Dunham.

“Anyway” – arriving ahead of Felber’s July album Experience – is textured and twisted, featuring angsty guitar chords and the kind of lyrical exhaustion that feels all too relatable. “It’s our anthem about being ‘over it,’” Felber says. “News cycles, wars, personal battles. It’s all there.”

Directed by Emma Chitty, the track is paired with splatters of glitter and colour, featuring a cameo from Lena Dunham. But the real star is Luna, a seven-year-old firecracker making her on-camera debut. “She didn’t care about the lens—just how much glitter she could get in her hair,” says Chitty.

Marking Attawalpa’s second full-length record, the body of work personally and collaboratively carries even more depth than his debut record, Presence.

Attawalpa initially began as a solo project for Felber alongside producer Matt Allchin, and now includes drummer Henry Danowski, percussionist Maurizio Ravalico (Jamiroquai), and viola player Freya Hicks (Jockstrap, The Big Moon).

Felber is also the co-creator and music producer on upcoming Netflix series Too Much, co-written with Dunham, which follows a love story between a struggling London musician and a heartbroken New Yorker, mirroring their own relationship. “I really want people to hear it,” he says. “All that said, I’m always anxious about sharing my work!”

Too Much is expected to air later this year.

Attawalpa plays a headline show at The Lexington, London on 25 July
