Nectar Woode’s driving new single “Only Happen” heals the heart
Life knocks you down. When the shock has passed, you can either simmer in the pain or get back up on your feet. Nectar Woode embraces the latter in her latest single.
Nectar Woode is a champion of positivity, and her new single “Only Happen” is another extension of her sunny disposition. Rich vocal harmonies and driving piano chords introduce the song, opening up the pathway to rhythmic hits of a snare and bass drum. Woode’s smooth vocals sink into the sound like honey in tea. Her lyrics take a hard look at the errors of a limiting self-belief.
The more she faces her convictions, the easier she finds it to shake off the hesitation and step into her power. With warm vocal harmonies, smooth production, and driving bass, “Only Happen” is a soulful easy-listener rife with contemporary R&B and indie pop influences. Influenced by soul artists like D'Angelo, Erykah Badu, Maxwell, the sound of the ‘90s is alive in Woode.
Raised by a saxophonist father, jazz is in her blood, and she’s followed its call since she can remember. While going to school in London, Woode spent many afternoons going to open mics or songwriting sessions. The curiosity paid off, as she now confidently crafts stirring songs that stay true to her innate optimism. Her discography is a celebration of life.
“Only Happen” comes just after the release of the 24-year-old’s debut EP “Nothing to Lose” and the follow-up “Head Above Water”. Previously supporting artists from the likes of Elton John to Leon Bridges, the young RCA signee is paving a path for herself in the scene. Following a recent musical journey to Ghana, the British songstress has even more ideas on the way, so stay tuned.
