Brighton-based art-rockers Youth Sector return with “Tonight”
Youth Sector's latest single, “Tonight”, finds the band swerving the pure nostalgia factor, instead striking a deft balance between the classic and contemporary.
Music is cyclical and trends come and go, and things that were seen as fresh and exciting a year ago can soon become passé. It’s refreshing then, at time when ‘90s nostalgia is rampant, that Youth Sector should be taking the well-trodden aesthetics of the 1980s, and dragging them kicking and screaming in to the 21st century.
Combining the unashamedly pop pomp of the 1980s with the ramshackle roughness of garage rock, the result is a track both timely and timeless, frenetic and fun. It bubbles with a youthful exuberance yet is delivered with the confidence of a band far beyond their years.
