Young Oslo quartet Mall Girl are set to make an appearance at this week's Vill Vill Vest showcase in Bergen, and ahead of that they've unveiled their new single.
"Slay Queen" is equal parts Pom Poko jazz-noise and Paramore spiky attitude, and a complete rush from start to end.
Mall Girl are guitarist Iver Armand Tandsether, bass player Eskild Myrvoll, vocalist Bethany Forseth-Reichberg and drummer Veslemøy Narvesen. The track gets its energy from angular riffs and explosions of fuzz, while Forseth-Reichberg's vocals are sweetly sharp and point to a new Nordic singer set to inspire like Sløtface's Haley Shea. "Slay Queen", umm, slays.
"Slay Queen" is out tomorrow on Diamond Club. Mall Girl play Landmark on Thursday 13 September as part of Vill Vill Vest.
