Listen: Marz Leon - "Fire" [Premiere]
The follow up to Jay-Z approved single “L O N E R”, “Fire” is the latest track to come from LA newcomer Marz Leon.
We say newcomer because “Fire” is only her second single, but Marz has been writing and producing her own songs since she was 14 years old - which probably goes a long way to explaining the sense of depth and control found on this latest cut.
Built around crunching, hollow synths and Marz’ calm seductive vocals; “Fire” is a lesson in understatement. There is a slow burning intensity to its beautiful, cautious swells and a wonderfully raw nature that draws power from lyrics like “You speak words of I love you / But you f-ck like you hate me.” Produced by High x Land, and co-produced by the artist herself, “Fire” is only further proof that Marz is an incredibly rare breed: fiercely individual and quietly commanding.
Marz Leon’s 7 track EP is due out later this summer.
