HAWK embrace the power of change on Loveless-inspired odyssey "Keeps Me Out"
Berlin-based combo HAWK tear back into our lives with the squalling splendour of new number "Keeps Me Out".
"Keeps Me Out" is five minutes of thick, velvety textures and clattering cymbals - it's slow and confident, insistent even, with only crystalline vocals from frontwoman Julie Hawk carving through the shadows. The track marks a new direction for the trio, who cannonball into the depths of a new (although not totally unfamiliar) sonic territory.
"We’d been on tour doing a lot of long drives listening to Loveless and Souvlaki, and when we got back, we felt a real urge to go full shoegaze," Hawk explains. "The lyrics are Inspired by those days when the most tempting decision is to do nothing and immerse yourself in distractions from your inner demons. Deciding to make a change in your life - whatever that may be - means setting a new bar that feels unattainable; that can feel like a failure waiting to happen."
HAWK are following up last year's offerings "Ghost", "Sin", and "Can't Explain". They've recently started working with Rocky O’Reilly (And So I Watch You From Afar) as they hurtle down a road paved with post-rock.
