Frøkedal announces debut record Hold On Dreamer, shares lead single "Kid" [Premiere]
Frøkedal has announced her first full-length Hold On Dreamer, and is sharing its lead single "Kid" on Best Fit.
Speaking about the cut, the Norwegian singer/songwriter says: "'Kid' opens with a depiction of a young child who falls asleep under the table during a family party. It turns out that this is only a made-up memory because all the photos of the child have disappeared along with the family's recollection of him."
"Kid" is a departure from the folk-tinged noises that we saw on debut EP I See You, with whirring electronics and dreamy synths permeating Frøkedal's frosty melodies. It's a galvanised track with pulsing percussion throughout, and wobbly, mystical guitars weaving between each beat. There's a tranquillity to Frøkedal's latest offering that belies the lyrical gravitas, and the result is a track that's haunting and beautiful in equal measure.
Frøkedal plays London's Old Blue Last tonight with Apothek and Slaughter Beach for the 0E0E club night.
Hold On Dreamer is out 26 February 2016 on Propeller.
