Electronic duo Over Sands tease their harmonious textures with "Hounds" [Premiere]
Latest single "Hounds" from brothers Tom and Ben Stephens' is an intimate portrayal into the duos' physical and emotional affinity with their environment.
Though isolation may be a running theme within the latest B3SCI signings' oeuvres, detachment is by no means a by-product. The duos sound is an embracement of both the beauty and restrictive nature of confinement.
The organic fluidity of "Hounds" yields an enchanting quality. As "it was such an eerie sunlight" is moaned across the solitary soundscape of whirring synths, there is an overwhelming sense of the brothers' awe at the mysterious nature of their surroundings.
With vocals recorded within an old WW2 bunker unearthed by their seaside home, Over Sands' lyricism burns with sincerity and demonstrates the act's drive to form a sound derived mainly from their environment. Skillful manipulation of field recordings forms the basis for a sound that is beautifully engrossing. The duos voyeurism gives way to a haunting introspective angle.
