Korallreven collaborator China returns with off-kilter pop gem "Wait"
We haven't heard from China for around a year, since the "Flow" and "Now You Know" singles. But the Swede is back with a brand new single and video.
"Wait" is a more unsettling side to China Yggström than we've heard before. A song about trust and desire, the themes are as claustrophobic as the track itself.
Buzzing synths, stumbling percussion which verges on trap, and China's mournful and passionate vocal all combine to make a pop song with just the right amount uncomfortable edge to it. As she sings "I lose all my senses / I'm so high strung / take me down / I'm so done" we're taken in by China's powerful story of suspicion and yearning.
The spectacular video is directed by Baby Baby.
