Acid House Kings – Sing Along With Acid House Kings (Deluxe Edition)
As we reported last month, Swedish twee-pop combo Acid House Kings are re-issuing three of their classic albums on heavyweight vinyl. Today, we’re thrilled to exclusively stream 2007′s Sing Along With Acid House Kings in its entirety and, for the first time, with eight additional bonus tracks. Over the coming weeks we’ll also be streaming Advantage Acid House Kings and Mondays are Like Tuesdays.
Sing Along With… is an album that slipped under the UK radar altogether. A lost classic if you will. With the band unashamed to wear their influences on their collective sleeves, their sweet indie-pop echoing the spirit of Field Mice, Camera Obscura, Belle & Sebastian, Saint Etienne et al – all tied together with the natural flair and grace for timeless melody that many a Swedish pop group seem to possess.
Looking back at the album, seven years since its release, Acid House King and Labrador Records boss Johan Angergård reflects: “It only took three years in the making (yep, three years is a short time in the world of Acid House Kings), but this is where we turned perfectionists. We worked on sounds and arrangements for ages as I remember it. We’d been aiming at doing ‘timeless pop’ for a long long while. On Sing along with Acid House Kings we added ‘mature’ to the timelessness.” Whilst Niklas Angergård adds: ”My dream is, and has always been to make a classic pop album that stands the test of time, like the ones I listened to as a teenager and still listen to. Listening to it now, I think we came pretty close on Sing Along with Acid House Kings. We worked ridiculously hard on the production, but still I think it comes across as very relaxed and natural sounding. It surprises me a little, the naturalness.”
