Singing in English as Lois, his delivery on “Before You" swings between a lo-fi Nick Cave and Billy Mackenzie, woven artfully around minimal guitar pop. Hitting the high notes, it’s more commanding that you expect at first, especially for something so drenched in the past.
Brea records every on a four track, we're told, and perhaps it's that control and simplicity that makes this such an intriguing listen.
